Kumi’awasedate (Furo)

We have previously practiced kumi’awasedate with ro a few times, but it has been quite some time with furo.

Kumi’awasedate is practiced when kensui is something special – an item of renowned fame or distinguished history.  Just like chasen kazari, hishaku and futa’oki are placed on the shelf, and chashaku, chasen and chakin are displayed on top of the lid of mizusashi.  Then chawan with cha’ire inside is then placed on top of kensui, and these three items are displayed in front of the shelf.  The host therefore enters the tea room empty handed.

You should take note that how the three items (kensui, chawan, cha’ire) are handled differs between furo and ro.
