Kenroku-en in Kanazawa is a landscaped garden, known as one of the best three in Japan, along with Ka’iraku-en in Mito and Ko’uraku-en in Okayama.  Generations of the lords of the Kaga province built up this garden over time.  In 1874 (Year 7 of Meiji) it became open to the public.

The “Shigure-te’i” tea house was taken down at the beginning of the Meiji period – but was rebuilt at the current location in 2000.
