京都大徳寺塔頭大慈院は、安土・桃山時代(1591年)に天叔宗眼(てんしゅくそうげん)を開祖とし開山しました。江戸時代(1830年)、大地震により倒壊しましたが1847年古材により縮小して再建されたとのこと。

Daiji-in, a sub-temple at Kyoto’s Da’itoku-ji complex was originally founded in 1591 (Azuchi-Momoyama period) by Tenshuku So’ugen.  In 1830 (Edo period), the temple was destroyed in a large earthquake, but in 1847 it was reconstructed on a smaller scale using salvaged wood.

「縮小された」と言ってもかなり大きいようです。

“Smaller scale?”  I guess it is all relative.  It still looks quite large to me….
