senri

「千里同風」(senri do’ufu’u), while it literally means that the same wind blows everywhere despite great distances, it is generally used to mean a peaceful, well-governed society.  We also previously wrote about 「四海波静」shikai nami shizuka), which literally means: “The waves are calm in four seas.”  What it means is that the world is under harmonious governance and in peace.

In watching news stories of late, we are reminded daily that peace can never be taken for granted, and that peace is something we must treasure and protect.
