In April, there was a Domon-ka’i national convention in Yamaguchi.  To commemorate that occasion, we will feature the locations of the tea events.  First up, “Sansu’i-en” in Yamaguchi City.

Sansu’i-en is located in Yuda Onsen.  The legend has it that a white fox discovered the hot spring.  Sansu’i-en is a wood structure surrounded by Japanese gardens, and is a highly regarded “ryokan” (a traditional Japanese style hotel) where Emperor and Empress Showa have stayed.

Sansu’i-en’s owner (the previous generation) enjoyed friendship with Sokuchu’u-sa’i, as well as Shinbe’i Sakakura XII and De’ika Sakata XIII.  There is a “tea room wing” at Sansu’i-en with four tea rooms, including a copy of “Fushin-an” (不審庵) and “Zangetsu-te’i” (残月亭).  The copies are named , “Fushin-an” (不嗔庵) and “Sangetsu-te’i” (山月亭), respectively.
