絞り茶巾・Shibori-chakin

筒茶碗で絞り茶巾をしました。絞った後たたむ前の状態の茶巾を一文字(重ねた隅と隅が左)で茶碗に入れて運び出します。
We did shibori-chakin with tsutsujawanChakin is placed in chawan after wringing it but before folding it – thus still looking like a peg.  (The corners are to your left when placed in chawan.)
絞り茶巾のタイミングは冬と夏では違います。冬はお茶碗を温めるため茶筅通し中お湯をお茶碗にいれたまま、夏はお茶碗を冷ますため茶筅通し後お湯をお茶碗から捨てた後です。
The timing for doing shibori-chakin is different for winter and summer.  In winter, while the hot water is still in the bowl during chasen to’ushi to warm up the bowl, and in summer, after the hot water is discarded from the bowl following chasen to’ushi to cool off the bowl.
