楽焼蟹蓋置川嵜和楽作・Raku ware Kani Futa’oki by Waraku Kawasaki

七種蓋置の「蟹(かに)」蓋置についてお話します。

Here is a note on “kanifuta’oki.  It is one of the Seven Futa’oki.

その名の通り、蟹の形をしています。栄螺(さざえ)同様風炉の季節に小卓などとよく使います。

As the name indicates, it is in the shape of a crab.  Like sazae futa’oki, it is often used in the furo season, especially with a kojoku.

置く際は頭(はさみ)を正面とするそうです。扱いは七種蓋置の中では簡単な方で、ひっくり返したりする必要はありません。

When placed on tatami, the head (claws) comes to the front (facing te’ishu).  Out of the seven futa’oki, it is relatively easy to handle; there is no need to turn it over when using it.
