七種蓋置の「栄螺(さざえ)」蓋置についてお話します。

Here is a note on “saza’efuta’oki.  It is also one of the Seven Futa’okiSaza’e is a type of sea snail, known as turbo cornutus, or a “horned turban.”

その名の通り、栄螺の殻の形をしています。風炉の季節に小卓などとよく使います。

As the name indicates, it is in the shape of a saza’e shell.  Saza’e is often used in the furo season, especially with a kojoku.

角二本の方向が正面です。建水に入れて運ぶとき、棚に置いて飾るときなどは正面が手前です。手に取って畳に置くときには柄杓や釜蓋が上に置けるよう角を下にする必要があります。そして尾が釜の方向になるそうです。

The two horns are on the front.  When carried in a kensui, or when displayed on a shelf, the horned side faces the front.  Before placing it on a tatami, however, it needs to be flipped so that the horns are on the bottom so that the hishaku or the kama‘s lid can be place on it.
