Niju’udana So’ukazari

We have done so’ukazari (full display) in the past with a marujoku (丸卓: a round shelf) and a yoho’udana (四方棚: a square shelf) – but this time we used a niju’udana (a “double” shelf).

When using a marujoku (丸卓) or a yoho’udana (四方棚), the usuchaki and chawan are placed on the top shelf at the same time with both hands.  However, with a niju’udana, when the usuchaki and chawan are placed on the middle shelf, the usuchaki and chawan are placed one at a time and with the right hand only.

If there is no bottom shelf, the mizusashi is carried in at the beginning and carried out at the end – just like “hakobiotema’e.
